I wish I could do the art from Prince Valiant justice. Hell, even his pacing was surprising. In One full page Sunday strip, Hal Foster could get us from point a to point B in a storyline and still have room for intrigue, drama, or romance.
Oh, and fights.
As a child, I never cared one jot about Valiant. That was the boring comic that ran forever, snoooooze. He was always on a boat, and there were so many words. (Although obviously I was reading Calvin, so what’s up with that?) But now I just want to devour this stuff. I love knights. I love honor fighting. It’s all great!
